Group Assignments

The coaching staff has been working on the groups and placement for next year. We have specific target numbers in each group that are based on lane space and ranges of ability of the swimmers. This will ensure the best practice environment and workouts for the participants. The science used to select the swimmers in each group was based on a middle distance blend of several events. As a result you may see individual situation where you or your swimmer may be faster in a particular event and yet be placed in a lower (slower) group. What we will do is have you start in the assigned group and evaluate performance, attendance and work ethic over the first few months and re-evaluate where placements may be adjusted (up and down) at some time in the winter.

With our team getting stronger in the pool at all levels, practice attendance and commitment to working hard every day becomes more and more important. There is no doubt that we will cap the number of swimmers in each group and a waiting list will develop. We have met with the senior management of the club and the lanes available are fixed in certain times. While we understand challenges that each of you have with practice times, they are set for the year and we do not expect major changes in group times. We will not be compromising a group’s composition by allowing carpool or family situations dictate when our swimmers practice. It is only fair to the group and the team to hold strong to the plan.
